Extreme Messaging's Address Validation service allows companies to quickly validate email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and credit cards as users signup, and to validate pre-existing lists, automatically correcting the most common mistakes.


Verifies that the local part of the email address
	Checks the address against all the relevant RFCs
	Extreme Messaging works with the postmasters of large domains to allow us to check the additional, domain-specific, rules that they apply.
Verify the host part of the email address
	Check the top-level domain (e.g. 'edu') to quickly catch many typos
	Check the host name against relevant RFCs
	Perform DNS lookups for MX, A, and, when necessary, NS records
	Cache DNS results for good performance
Recommend corrected email addresses
	Correct common errors in top-level domains
	Correct common mistakes in large domains
	Correct addresses when domains change names
Verify the zip code, city, and state
	Validate street addresses and zip codes to ensure a second contact method for users
Verify the phone number
	the phone number given is for a valid country code
	area code given is valid for the country
	subscriber portion follows all country-specific numbering rules
Verify the credit card number
	card number is a legal card number for the card type (e.g. Visa) provided
